There are many reasons to seek counselling. You may be dealing with stress, anxiety, feelings of hopelessness or grief and loss. You could be looking for self-development or self-awareness. With big changes in life, you may be trying to find ways to adjust.

PERSON-CENTERED THERAPY

My counselling approach is respectful and non-judgmental. Helping people gain awareness of their patterns, build on strengths and work on any new things they wish to change or achieve. This non-directive approach is grounded in Carl Rogers’ Person-Centered Therapy.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Person-centered therapy is talk therapy in which the client does most of the talking. The approach can particularly benefit people who seek to gain more self-confidence, a stronger sense of identity, greater success in establishing interpersonal relationships, and more trust in their own decisions.

  • Unconditional positive regard, which means the therapist is non-judgmental, encouraging clients to feel valued and make their own (better) decisions.
      • Empathetic understanding, which means the therapist completely understands and accept their clients’ thoughts and feelings.
      • Congruence, or genuineness, which means therapists carry no air of authority or superiority but instead present a true and accessible self that clients can see is honest and transparent.

Individuals have a tremendous capacity for self-healing if given the proper environment

      How long are the sessions?

Sessions are an hour long. The first session is 15 minutes longer to allow time to fill out an intake form.

      What are your fees?

My session fees are $130 per hour. Unfortunately counselling services are are not generally covered by Medicare. If you have financial difficulties you may also be able to see me through the Rough Patch service on Thursday afternoons that is based in Leichhardt, at a reduced rate of $60 per hour.

What locations do you work from?

I am available for both face-to-face and online therapy sessions via Zoom. I am based in Leura in the Blue Mountains but also offer counselling through Rough Patch based in Leichhardt on Thursday afternoons.

How many sessions will I need before I make progress?

Every person is different and sometimes a one-off session can be enough. Most of the time therapy is a process and so booking at least 3-4 sessions is advised.

What is your cancellation policy and fees?

Please give at least 24 hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling an appointment. A 50% fee may be charged for late cancellations.

Do you accept credit card payments?

Bank transfer or cash is preferred. However, credit card payments can be organised over the phone given some notice. You will be provided with an invoice after the session with payment details.
